Food Service Inspections

Environmental Health staff inspects all 400+ licensed facilities throughout a 5 county (Houghton, Baraga, Keweenaw, Ontonagon, and Gogebic) area on a routine basis. Inspections focus on maintaining sanitary conditions and food handling practices.  Facilities must follow rules set forth in the Michigan 1999 Food Code and the Michigan Food Law of 2000. Critical and noncritical violations found on inspections are required to be corrected within a set time period. Inspections are also required before a Temporary Food License can be issued.
